David D. Oglesby

Associate Professor, Undergraduate Advisor

Department of Earth Sciences
Geology 424
(951) 827-2036

Research Areas

  • Earthquake Processes

Research Interests:
Earthquake physics (in particular, the effects of fault geometry and stress inhomogeneity on earthquake dynamics), computational models of faulting, wave propagation, and earthquake ground motion; strong-motion seismology.

Recent Projects:
Dynamic models of the 1999 Chi-Chi (Taiwan) Earthquake; investigations into the connection between fault dip, earthquake dynamics, and strong ground motion; ground motion forecasting for future earthquakes on the Rose Canyon Fault in San Diego; models of earthquakes on non-parallel thrust fault segments.
