Biography

Óscar Perea-Rodríguez works on Medieval and Renaissance Spanish Literature, especially songbooks (cancionero poetry). He has published extensively about Medieval and Renaissance Spanish songbooks, Spanish vernacular Humanism, Spain’s first women writers, and the Islamic, Hebrew, and Christian background of Spanish literature. His current research project is focused on the role of converso poets in the midst of the political and religious strife of the 15th and 16th centuries. He is also editor of PhiloBiblon: Bibliografía Española de Textos Antiguos (BETA), the world’s largest database of the primary manuscripts and printed sources for the study of the medieval and Renaissance Spanish literature (http://bancroft.berkeley.edu/philobiblon/beta_en.html)
